About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Advanced Youth Offending Service Officer to join our Youth Justice Team. This pivotal role involves managing a diverse caseload of youth justice cases, including both out-of-court disposals and statutory court orders, in line with National Standards and the HMIP Inspection Framework.

You will apply the Child First, Offender Second approach, delivering trauma-informed, strengths-based interventions that enable children and young people to make positive life choices and desist from offending behaviour.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of young people subject to out-of-court disposals and statutory court orders, ensuring high-quality case management and compliance with national guidance.

  • Undertake detailed assessments and planning using AssetPlus, embedding trauma-informed and desistance-focused practice.

  • Deliver effective one-to-one and group interventions to address offending behaviour and promote engagement in education, employment, and training.

  • Prepare and present Pre-Sentence Reports, Stand-Down Reports, and Panel Reports for court and referral panels, providing clear, evidence-based recommendations.

  • Represent the Youth Justice Team in Court, Referral Order Panels, and multi-agency meetings.

  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with children, families, and partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes.

  • Uphold the principles of equality, diversity, and anti-discriminatory practice across all areas of work.

  • Promote safeguarding and risk management to keep both young people and the community safe.

About You

You will be a confident and reflective practitioner with substantial experience in youth justice or a related field. You will demonstrate a sound understanding of criminal justice processes, risk assessment, and intervention planning. A commitment to trauma-informed and child-centred practice is essential, along with the ability to build trusting relationships and influence positive change.

Essential Criteria:

  • Proven experience working within a Youth Offending or similar service.

  • Strong knowledge of AssetPlus and evidence-based intervention models.

  • Excellent communication, report-writing, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-agency partners.

  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and continuous professional development.
