We're recruiting on behalf of a prestigious events and conferencing venue in the heart of London. This renowned Centre welcomes hundreds of high-profile national and international events each year, providing world-class service across its 10 floors of dynamic, multi-functional space.
As the Head of Building Management, you will be at the helm of facilities operations, ensuring the seamless delivery of both hard and soft services, utilities, security, and health & safety. You ll be a key figure in shaping the strategic direction of the department, overseeing day-to-day operations, managing large-scale projects, and driving sustainability initiatives.
The Role - Lead the management and delivery of hard/soft FM services, including M&E, cleaning, reception, porterage, and security.
- Hold departmental budget responsibility; create, monitor, and report on the annual maintenance budget.
- Act as Deputy to the Venue Operations Director, ensuring smooth operation and service excellence.
- Lead capital refurbishment projects and manage sub-contractors across all building service areas.
- Maintain compliance, health & safety, and emergency planning.
- Oversee energy and utilities management, supplier relationships, and drive sustainability goals.
- Champion continuous improvement and innovation across FM and building systems, including CAFM and BMS tools.
- Lead and mentor a small team and build strong working relationships across departments.
What We re Looking For - A technical qualification in engineering, electrical, or other hard services (degree, HND, C&G, apprenticeship or equivalent).
- Significant experience in facilities leadership, ideally within events, hospitality, or corporate/public sectors.
- Strong knowledge of hard services with the ability to challenge contractors and identify best-value solutions.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple service contracts and leading project delivery.
- Sound knowledge of health & safety practices and systems (NEBOSH/IOSH qualified).
- Effective communicator with excellent leadership, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in CAFM, BMS, and ideally event management systems.

- Passion for sustainability and experience with carbon reporting/net-zero planning

Evening and weekend work may occasionally be required, for which overtime or TOIL is available.
