Job Title: Financial Controller (Construction)
Location: Colchester
Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 per annum (DOE) + benefits such as car allowance + bonus

Are you a motivated and experienced finance professional seeking a dynamic role within the construction industry?

We are hiring a Financial Controller to join our clients growing team. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will play a pivotal role in managing the company s financial operations and providing administrative support to ensure seamless day-to-day business operations.

About the Role:
As the Financial Controller, your responsibilities will include:
Finance Responsibilities:

• Managing monthly P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts.
• Producing and managing accounts and financial statements.
• Overseeing aged debtors and managing payment runs.
• Completing bank reconciliations, raising invoices, and processing purchase orders.
• Preparing VAT returns, CIS monthly reports, and subcontractor payment certificates.
• Monitoring departmental performance and contributing to financial strategy decisions.
• Managing tax and compliance obligations.
• Producing accurate management reports.

Office Administration:

• Managing employee benefits, holiday records, and insurance renewals.
• Maintaining trade body registrations and health & safety compliance.
• Ordering materials, equipment, and supplies.
• Updating and maintaining the company website.

Health & Safety Compliance:

• Managing staff and subcontractor training schedules.
• Updating policy documents and maintaining supplier H&S records.
• Coordinating with contractors on technical requirements and equipment schedules.
• Ensuring project documentation and certifications are accurate and up to date.

About You:
To succeed as a Financial Controller, you should have:

• Proven experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
• Knowledge and experience with Xero Accounting Software
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• A proactive and detail-oriented mindset.
• The ability to communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and team members.
