Mortgage Underwriter - Residential

A specialist mortgage lender based in London is looking for an experienced and ambitious Underwriter to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys both the technical side of underwriting and the relationship-building aspect of working closely with mortgage brokers.

The Role:

You'll be responsible for underwriting residential mortgage applications, while also acting as a key point of contact for brokers. From new enquiries to active case discussions, you'll play a vital role in ensuring applications progress smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite residential mortgage applications in line with lending policy and risk appetite
  • Handle new broker enquiries and provide clear guidance on criteria and case packaging
  • Maintain ongoing case communication with brokers, ensuring excellent service
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues to meet service level expectations
  • Contribute to a positive, ambitious team environment

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Solid experience in mortgage underwriting, ideally with residential products
  • Confident communicator with experience handling broker relationships
  • Detail-oriented and organised, with a strong sense of accountability
  • Team player with a proactive and driven approach
  • Comfortable working 4-5 days per week in a London-based office
