A respected and progressive secondary school in Colchester is seeking to appoint an exceptional Head of Physics to lead and further develop a successful Science faculty starting in April Term.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated Physics specialist with leadership experience - or an ambitious second-in-department ready for progression - to shape the strategic direction of Physics and inspire a love of science across the school.

The Role:

• Provide clear leadership and vision for the Physics curriculum across KS3-KS5
• Ensure consistently high-quality teaching and learning within the department
• Drive outstanding student progress and examination outcomes
• Lead curriculum planning, assessment development, and intervention strategies
• Support and mentor staff to enhance professional practice
• Promote enrichment opportunities such as STEM clubs and competitions

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• A degree in Physics or a closely related discipline
• Experience teaching Physics at KS3 & KS4
• Strong subject knowledge and a commitment to academic excellence
• Leadership experience or demonstrable readiness to lead a department
• The ability to analyse performance data and implement improvement strategies
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills
