Bank SACT Staff Nurse -Oaks Hospital - Bank Hours

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of an Oncology Staff Nurse for our Brand New stand-alone oncology unit at Oaks Hospital.  The unit has 4 chairs and will deliver systemic anti-cancer therapy for both solid and haematological malignancies. 

The role:

The successful applicant will be an experienced nurse and you must be able to demonstrate that you are motivated and forward thinking for the continued success of the department.

What you’ll bring with you:

• NMC Registered Nurse 

• Post Registration Qualifications/Course in chemotherapy administration or willingness to undertake 

• Experience in organising oncology care

• Pre assessment of the Oncology / Haematology patient including Observations, Toxicity assessment and bloods taken peripherally or via central line.

• Direct liaise with Oncology / Haematology consultants

• Good communication skills within a small team

• Ability to work independently and within a small team

• Administration of SACT via IV, SC, IM and Oral routes

• Clinical skills in cannulation, phlebotomy and the use of CVCs

• Experience in Paxman scalp coolers

• Acute Oncology Haematology experience essential

• UKONS passport essential
