Section Engineer

CarmichaelUK is seeking a Section Engineer to join a Tier 1 contractor on a major highways project in South West London. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a leadership role in delivering critical infrastructure, ensuring quality, safety, and programme compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Engineering & Site Control Oversee site engineering, setting out, and ensuring work is delivered Right First Time
• Work Planning & Methodology Lead the production of Task Briefing Sheets, Method Statements, and Risk Assessments
• Quality Assurance & Compliance Ensure work meets the required standards, including managing Permit to Dig processes and conducting site inspections
• Subcontractor & Resource Management Monitor subcontractor performance, provide direct instruction, and ensure all contractual obligations are met
• Problem-Solving & Issue Resolution Identify and resolve technical challenges on-site, escalating as needed
• Reporting & Documentation Maintain detailed site records, as-built documentation, daily diaries, and progress reports

About You:

• Experience as a Section Engineer on major highways or civil engineering projects
• Strong setting out, site management, and technical leadership skills
• Understanding of health, safety, and quality control procedures
• Excellent subcontractor management and problem-solving abilities
• Proficiency in relevant surveying and CAD software
