GSL Education are excited to present a fantastic opportunity for a driven and knowledgeable Economics Subject Lead to join a forward-thinking secondary school in Hackney. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher or current Head of Department to lead a thriving subject area, influence curriculum design, and empower students with real-world economic understanding.

Responsibilities of the Economics Subject Lead:

• Lead the development and delivery of a high-quality Economics curriculum for Key Stage 4 and 5.
• Inspire and challenge students through outstanding teaching and subject expertise.
• Manage a small team or work alongside Business & Economics colleagues to drive academic progress.
• Monitor student attainment and implement strategies for continued improvement.
• Promote enrichment activities, competitions, and university/career pathways in Economics.
• Work collaboratively with the senior leadership team on departmental planning and policy.

Skills & Qualification:

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with proven experience teaching Economics to KS5.
• Demonstrates strong leadership capabilities and a track record of raising student achievement.
• Brings deep subject knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a growth mindset.
• Passionate about real-world learning and preparing students for further study and careers in Economics.
• Previous leadership or curriculum development experience is highly desirable.
• Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
