About the Role
The successful candidate will:
- Teach a Reception/early years class of pupils with Autism, delivering engaging, play-based lessons.
- Create a safe, supportive, and structured environment that fosters communication, regulation, and early learning.
- Plan, deliver and assess personalised learning in line with pupils' EHCPs.
- Collaborate with specialist staff including SALTs, OTs and SEND support assistants.
- Implement a creative curriculum, incorporating music, sensory play, art and movement.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with parents and carers.
- Play a key role in the wider SEND team, with the potential to move into leadership roles in the near future.
Person Specification
We are seeking a teacher who:
- Holds QTS and has experience teaching in an EYFS or SEND setting.
- Has strong knowledge of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and experience supporting children with complex needs.
- Uses a creative and adaptive approach to teaching and learning.
- Has excellent behaviour management and classroom organisation skills.
- Is a team player, willing to collaborate and contribute to whole-school life.
- Communicates confidently with parents, carers, and outside professionals.
- Is committed to inclusive practice and passionate about making a difference in SEND education.
