Health and Safety Manager

We're looking for an experienced Health & Safety Manager based in Bedford to join our client's team on a permanent basis. This role is ideal for someone passionate about creating safe, compliant, and supportive environments, particularly when working with vulnerable adults.

Summary of the Health and Safety Manager role

Salary: £35,000 per annum

Location: Bedford with travel nationally

Type of Contract: Permanent

Hours: 37 hours Monday - Friday

Responsibilities of theHealth and Safety Manager

• Leading on compliance with health, safety, and hygiene legislation, including COSHH, RIDDOR, CHAS, HMO licences, and risk assessments.
• Keeping safety front and centre by overseeing regular checks, PAT testing, fire systems, water monitoring, room inspections, and more.
• Managing contractor compliance, ensuring all records, qualifications, and materials meet the highest standards.
• Driving staff training and first aid arrangements, making sure PPE and safety equipment are always up-to-date and compliant.
• Carrying out spot checks across multiple projects and offices, providing clear reporting and operational updates.

Requirements for a successful Health and Safety Manager

• Proven Health & Safety experience in a multi-site or facilities environment.
• NEBOSH General Certificate.
• Strong leadership with staff management experience.
• Excellent organisational, report writing, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in environments with vulnerable adults.
• A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel nationally.
