Service Engineer - Job Specification
Salary: £28,000-£30,000
Key Responsibilities
1. Installation & Assembly
- Install and assemble mobile folding furniture at customer sites.
- Carry out on-site assessments to ensure correct placement and functionality.
- Provide product demonstrations and customer training.
2. Maintenance & Repair
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs to keep products in optimal condition.
- Diagnose mechanical or structural issues and deliver effective solutions.
- Replace damaged parts and recommend improvements where needed.
3. Customer Support
- Act as the main contact for customers with technical issues.
- Respond to service requests quickly and professionally.
- Maintain detailed service logs and share feedback with the development team.
4. Quality Control
- Conduct checks during and after installations to ensure standards are met.
- Report defects and work with manufacturing teams to resolve issues.
5. Logistics & Inventory Management
- Maintain tools and equipment required for service tasks.
- Track spare parts inventory and ensure availability of key components.
- Coordinate with logistics for timely delivery and transportation of furniture.
6. Health & Safety
- Follow all company safety policies and comply with local regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments before installations and service tasks.
7. Documentation & Reporting
- Keep detailed reports for each service or repair.
- Provide insights to product development based on customer feedback.
- Generate internal and customer-facing service reports.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Expertise
- Experience in installation, maintenance, or repair of mechanical/structural products (furniture experience beneficial).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of tools and repair methods.
Customer Service
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to explain technical details clearly to non-technical customers.
Physical Fitness
- Role involves manual handling and assembly work.
Driving Licence
- A valid driver's licence is essential due to regular site travel.
Education & Experience
- Experience as a service engineer or field technician.
- Background in furniture installation or manufacturing is advantageous.
Additional Information
- Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, with occasional overtime or weekend work.
