Job Requirements/Description

Head of Infrastructure (Tier 1 Contractor)

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an Infrastructure Lead to join a leading Tier 1 contractor on a high-profile, multi-million-pound infrastructure project, set to be delivered over the next 5 years. In this key leadership role, you will oversee the delivery of primary infrastructure works and ensure the successful execution of a complex, large-scale project.

If you are an experienced infrastructure professional with a proven track record of managing infrastructure projects and leading teams, this is your chance to join a top-tier contractor and make a significant impact.

Key Responsibilities:

Preconstruction Phase:

  • Long-Term Project Planning: Manage the long-term delivery of the infrastructure program (5-year timeline), coordinating all project phases and dependencies.

  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and issues, developing proactive strategies to address them. Assist in preparing scopes of work and tender packs for Director approval.

  • Enabling Works: Oversee the identification and coordination of enabling works to ensure a smooth start to the project.

Primary Infrastructure Delivery:

  • Contractor & Consultant Management: Manage contractors on-site as the client, ensuring compliance with health and safety, environmental, and quality standards. Coordinate with external consultants and NEC Supervisor teams.

  • Commercial Support: Provide commercial support to the team by evaluating early warnings, compensation events, cost analysis, and contract management, ensuring the project remains within budget.

  • Technical Support: Support technical teams by reviewing RFIs (Requests for Information), assessing design buildability, and ensuring the site information aligns with the project requirements.

Parcel Sales Management:

  • Market-Ready Parcels: Work with the team to identify and manage parcels for open-market sale, ensuring parcels are delivered as "oven-ready" sites with the necessary infrastructure and utility connections.

Small Works Packages:

  • De-risking: Identify and scope smaller works packages that will help de-risk larger infrastructure packages. Manage subcontractors as Principal Contractors (PC), ensuring safety, quality, and compliance throughout.

  • Documentation & Compliance: Ensure the proper preparation of all required documentation such as F10, CPP, CEMP, and permits, while maintaining quality assurance (Fieldview, ITPs, MAFs).

Utility Works Delivery:

  • Utility Management: Oversee the delivery of utility works, managing subcontractors or acting as the client to ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards.

  • QA and Handover: Manage quality assurance and ensure seamless handovers of completed utility works to the appropriate stakeholders.

Team & Stakeholder Management:

  • Line Management & Leadership: Lead technical, commercial, and build teams, driving performance and collaboration. You will also manage direct reports, team meetings, and actions.

  • Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate between internal teams (development, sales, technical, commercial) and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment and smooth communication throughout the project.

  • Reporting: Provide regular progress updates, including detailed weekly reports, PRM (Project Risk Management) reports, and presentation materials for senior leadership.

About You:

  • Proven Leadership: You have extensive experience in leading infrastructure projects, managing multidisciplinary teams, and delivering high-value projects.

  • Project Management Expertise: You possess strong project management skills, with experience overseeing all stages of a large infrastructure project from preconstruction to delivery.

  • Commercial & Technical Acumen: You combine both technical knowledge of infrastructure systems with a solid understanding of the commercial aspects of construction projects, such as budgeting, cost analysis, and contract management.

  • Health & Safety & Compliance Knowledge: You are highly skilled in ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance on-site, with a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements.

  • Strong Stakeholder Engagement: You are able to effectively manage relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring smooth coordination across the project.

Why Join?

  • Career Growth: This role offers substantial opportunities for career progression within a leading Tier 1 contractor.

  • Impactful Work: Lead the delivery of a major infrastructure project that will have a lasting impact on local communities and the economy.

  • Competitive Salary & Benefits: Enjoy a competitive salary of 100k - 120k, with travel allowances and performance-based bonuses.

  • Work-Life Balance: Enjoy flexible working arrangements with a blend of on-site and office-based work.

If you're ready for a rewarding leadership role in a dynamic, growing sector, this is your chance to be part of a transformative infrastructure project. Take the next step in your career and join a Tier 1 contractor to manage a game-changing infrastructure initiative.
