ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate and qualified BSL (British Sign Language) Tutor to deliver bespoke education packages on a 1:1 basis to primary and secondary-aged pupils in Havering who are currently unable to attend school.

This Outreach Tutor role is ideal for a BSL specialist who is looking to step away from the traditional classroom setting and provide personalised, engaging lessons that support both academic progress and communication development. You will be working with pupils who may have hearing impairments, communication difficulties, or additional needs, and who require tailored support.

You will:

  • Create, plan and deliver 1:1 BSL-focused lessons tailored to each pupil's needs
  • Bridge gaps in education and boost engagement, confidence, and attainment
  • Support pupils in developing both verbal and non-verbal communication skills
  • Reintroduce structure and routine into their daily learning
  • Use creative and adaptive teaching strategies to meet individual learning styles

Most pupils will have been out of education for some time, so your ability to build trust, foster motivation, and deliver meaningful learning experiences is key.
