Design Engineer

Professional Technical are collaborating with a leading Design Studio based in the Centre of London. If you are a Senior Design Engineer with a keen eye for detail, originate from a mechanical engineering background, are confident with taking projects from concept through to production and contributing innovative and functional ideas, then this role could be for you.

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be contributing to projects from early-stage product development and ensuring that all client specifications are followed along with bringing technical functional solutions, support and mentoring of other members in the team and meeting design milestones. Our client specialise mainly in the medical device development space, so industry experience is required.

Job Profile:

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:

• Contribution of innovative ideas that are technically practical and that all cost feasibility is considered
• Research and development and inclusion of relevant technologies, materials and engineering processes
• Supporting teams with engineering analysis of systems including thermal, fluids and structural
• Development of basic concepts and creating practical and solid solutions (strong experience in engineering mathematical calculations, 3D CAD modelling and FEA simulation is required)
• Engineering analysis using tools such as FEA and CFD and GD&T

Job Requirements:

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be required to have the following to be considered:

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or extensive time served within the medical device industry
• At least 6 years design service experience within design consultancy and/or medical
• Advanced user of SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD modelling software
• Familiarity with varied materials and engineering processes such as: plastic injection molding, machining, fabrication and casting
• Strong ability with engineering analysis with tools such as FEA and CFD and GD&T
