Nurture Teaching Assistant

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Southwark is looking to appoint a committed and confident individual to support pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and behavioural needs. The role involves providing consistent, firm but nurturing support, helping children to remain focused and regulated throughout the school day.

This position is well-suited to someone who can offer a calm and grounded presence, with the ability to build positive, trusting relationships and act as a strong role model - particularly for pupils who respond well to clear structure and consistent boundaries.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support pupils with ASD and behavioural needs on a one-to-one basis or in small groups
• Implement behaviour strategies and tailored support plans in collaboration with the SENCO and class teachers
• Encourage positive social interactions and engagement with learning
• Contribute to a structured, supportive and safe school environment

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

• Brings confidence, resilience and a steady approach to behaviour support
• Has experience working with children with SEND and/or behavioural needs (in schools or similar settings)
• Can maintain clear boundaries while showing patience, empathy and understanding
• Works effectively as part of a team and communicates clearly with staff, pupils and families

Desirable (but not essential):

• Training in Team Teach, de-escalation strategies, or other behaviour interventions
• Understanding of ASD, trauma-informed practice and EHCPs
