HGV Class 1 / Class 2 Driver (Car Transporter)

About us

O'Brien Haulage Ltd is a small business in Slough. We offer a car and van transportation service that covers the whole of UK.

Drivers are expected to have occasional nights out in a truck and trailer. A night out allowance is provided for these. Strong communication skills are a must in order to keep the customer updated and ensure smooth handovers, alongside problem solving skills if a problem were to arise.

Responsibilities:

- Safely operate a commercial vehicle, specifically a flatbed truck.
- Transport vehicles to designated locations across the UK.
- Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment and techniques
- Follow all traffic laws and regulations while driving
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical issues and perform routine maintenance
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption
- Communicate with customers and team members effectively
- Adhere to company policies and procedures for safety and efficiency

Requirements:

- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements
- Proven experience as a truck driver, preferably with flatbed experience
- Clean driving record with no major violations or accidents
- Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles
- Excellent navigation skills and knowledge of local roads and highways
- Strong physical stamina for loading/unloading cargo and long hours of driving
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills and customer service-oriented mindset

- A good attention to detail, noticing damage on vehicles.

Class 1 licence/grandfather rights OR Class 2 licence - have a variety of vehicles to facilitate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £35,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
