Year 7 Teacher - Brixton - MLD SEN School

A small, community-run SEN school in Brixton is expanding its provision for 2025 and is looking for a dedicated Year 7 Teacher to join the team. This role offers the chance to work with students who are beginning their secondary journey while learning in a familiar, primary-style classroom setting. By keeping Year 7 pupils in one classroom, the school ensures a smooth transition into Key Stage 3, helping students feel secure and ready to learn.

The Year 7 Teacher RoleAs a Year 7 Teacher, you will deliver core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science at a primary level, ensuring lessons are engaging, accessible, and tailored to meet individual needs. Strong behaviour management skills are essential, as you'll be setting clear expectations and creating a calm, structured classroom environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for a KS2 teacher or a secondary teacher with SEN experience who is ready to take on a rewarding role in Brixton.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver lessons in core subjects at a primary level for Year 7 pupils with MLD

• Create a nurturing, inclusive environment that promotes independence and confidence

• Implement behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive classroom climate

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including therapists and psychologists

• Monitor progress, adapt teaching strategies, and provide regular feedback

• Lead and support a classroom team including teaching assistants

• Build strong relationships with parents and carers to support learning beyond the classroom

Qualifications & Skills:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

• Strong knowledge of ASD, MLD, and effective SEN teaching strategies

• Experience teaching in primary settings is preferred

• Excellent communication, teamwork, and classroom management skills
