Data Programme Manager

Your new companyYou will be working for a high-profile local government organisation in the City of London. This is an 8-month maternity cover role. Your new roleAs the Climate Action Programme Manager, you'll lead the strategic implementation of the Climate Action Strategy (CAS), aiming for net-zero in operations by 2027 and across the value chain by 2040. You'll coordinate 13 delivery workstreams, instilling performance-driven processes and managing a central hub of data, governance, and risk.Key responsibilities include:

• Coordinating programme-wide performance reporting and data governance.
• Managing risks, benefits, and budgets across the CAS programme.
• Developing and improving systems and processes to enhance delivery efficiency.
• Producing high-quality reports, briefings, and presentations.
• Supporting internal governance and acting as a liaison across project boards.
• Handling ad-hoc tasks and supporting team operations flexibly.

What you'll need to succeedQualifications & Knowledge

• Degree (or equivalent experience) in climate science or sustainability.
• Strong understanding of public sector and local authority operations.

Experience

• Proven track record managing data for reporting and governance.
• Experience working across departments to drive delivery and evidence outcomes.
• Skilled in developing and maintaining administrative systems.
• Budget management and financial reconciliation experience.

Technical & Communication Skills

• Advanced IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, databases).
• Strong written and verbal communication, including report writing and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects aligned with strategic climate goals.
• Skilled in data analysis, performance tracking, and risk management.
• Knowledge of GDPR and FOI regulations.
