Job description
We are seeking an Assistant Project Surveyor on behalf of our client in an exciting office fit-out project in central London. This is a freelance contract position offering £45,000 annually, ideal for someone with a strong understanding of MEPH services and a keen eye for detail. Whether you re a graduate undertaking a degree with day release or an experienced professional, this is a great opportunity for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- MEPH Drawings and Measurements: Ability to measure and apply rates to MEPH (Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health) drawings, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Rate Application & Subcontractor Analysis: Competence in interrogating subcontractor rates, ensuring all measures are accurate and compliant with project requirements.
- Cost Management: Understanding and comparing Stage 3 and Stage 4 MEPH design drawings, measures, and costs to monitor budget performance and project progress.
- Market Knowledge: Good general knowledge of composite rate build-ups, labour and material rates, and associated operating costs for MEPH services.
- System Knowledge: Strong understanding of BMS (Building Management Systems), fire alarms, sprinklers, and other MEPH packages, including dependencies, coordination, and integration.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Competence: You should have a solid working knowledge of MEPH services and be able to apply your experience to the role.
- Experience: Previous experience working within a similar intermediate role is essential.
- Multi-Disciplinary Background: Experience in a multi-disciplinary MEPH firm will be highly advantageous.
- Qualifications: A degree in a relevant field or undertaking a degree with day release will be considered.
We are looking for someone with:
- 4-5 years Surveyor experience
- The ability to apply and manage rates, measure and value drawings, and ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Take initiative and bring practical knowledge of systems like BMS, fire alarms, and sprinklers.
- Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
