About the Role

We are seeking an exceptionally driven, performance-focused, and innovative Business Operations Manager to join our clients dynamic team. Reporting to the Country Manager, you will oversee and optimise all aspects of logistics operations across multiple UK sites.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Operations Management

  • Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with company objectives
  • Provide direction and guidance to ensure efficient and cost-effective service delivery
  • Continuously assess and improve operational workflows and processes to maximise efficiency
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across logistics, inventory management, and transportation

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of operational staff across multiple locations
  • Review, revise and deliver training on process updates ensuring alignment across all departments and depots
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, performance excellence, and accountability
  • Develop talent through training programs and local development initiatives

Financial Management

  • Oversee preparation and management of operations budgets
  • Monitor costs and ensure operations remain within budgetary expectations
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining and improving service levels

Customer Excellence

  • Ensure logistics services meet customer SLAs and contractual obligations
  • Address customer issues and service failures, implementing corrective solutions
  • Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to understand and cascade customer expectations

Performance & Compliance

  • Analyse performance trends in operational efficiency, inventory management, transportation, and service quality
  • Provide regular reports to senior leadership on operational performance, challenges, and goal progress
  • Work with HSEQ manager to ensure compliance and quality-focused operations
  • Ensure operations comply with safety standards and environmental requirements

Innovation & Technology

  • Evaluate system solutions to improve operational performance, including warehouse and transportation management systems
  • Maintain understanding of industry trends, technologies, and best practices
  • Conduct competitor analysis to drive operational success

Additional Requirements

  • Address staff performance issues decisively and in line with company policies
  • Manage risk through proper handling of goods and logistics
  • Manage site facilities matters efficiently
  • Occasional travel to Milton Keynes and Manchester sites
  • Occasional travel to client sites
Essential Requirements

Experience & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in business operations, with significant operational management experience in logistics or supply chain industry
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex logistics operations and delivering positive results
  • Experience managing multiple cross-functional teams with proven performance management, coaching and leadership skills
  • Full UK driving licence

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership, people management, communication, and team-building skills
  • Ability to manage budgets and drive cost efficiencies
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical skills, trend analysis and strategic thinking abilities
  • Experience with logistics and supply chain management software and technologies
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance in logistics and transportation
  • Strong understanding of data analytics and KPIs in operational settings
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies and initiate change
  • Self-awareness and strong interpersonal skills
Desirable Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field
  • Six Sigma or Lean management certification
  • IOSH or NEBOSH certification for health & safety management
  • Project Management certification (Prince 2 / Agile)
