Minimum Academic Qualifications:

- BEng/BSc Degree qualified in Safety and Fire Engineering, MEng / MSc preferred
- Professional membership with Institution of Fire Engineers, Chartered Engineer (CEng)

Essential Experience:

- Technical specialist in Fire Safety Engineering working as technical lead for discipline with desired level of project and people management skills.
- Demonstrable experience of delivering technically excellent projects to London Underground, Network Rail, D&B Contractors, and other clients.
- Must have significant knowledge and experience in Fire Detection and Alarm System design.
- Must have previous experience on other Fire Safety Systems e.g., fire suppression systems (water mist, gaseous & portable fire-fighting equipment), fire mains, fire hydrants, smoke control system and passive fire protection systems.
- Must have in depth knowledge of the applicable legislation and standards for fire engineering and fire detection & alarm systems including British, European, Network Rail and TfL / LUL Standards covering design, installation, management, and maintenance. These include BS 5839, BS 9992, BS 9999, BS EN 12845, and Approved Document B.
- Must understand Fire Risk Assessments and Fire Strategies.
- Must have previous fire engineering experience on railway infrastructure including sub-surface / 'Section 12' stations
- Stakeholder management skills and a can do attitude
- Able to make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in proactive way
- Capable of work under pressure and able to work on several projects simultaneously.
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary environment and bring value from assimilated wider knowledge of other disciplines.
- Ability to see wider picture outside own discipline in project and business context, is essential
- Experience in preparation of proposals and tenders with commercial focus
- Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients is essential
- Able to understand and express technical concepts in written and verbal language
- Excellent verbal, written communication skills and the ability to build and maintain client relationships at the highest level
- Be willing to be mobile, travel within the UK and abroad for project related work when required
- Capability and the ability to inspire geographically dispersed teams around a common set of processes, procedures, systems, and tools.
- Technology enabled and experience of project delivery in 3D BIM environments, including use of common data environments such as ProjectWise

Duties & Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Fire Team Leader, you will provide the technical leadership for assigned projects ensuring successful delivery. You will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of project to meet budget, time-frame and quality targets, meeting or exceeding client expectations, promoting and marketing all facets of services during interfaces with clients and other sectors and disciplines, contributing towards the achievement of the divisional business plan and to build networks within the industry.

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

- Provide technical leadership at a subject level (including development of Fire Safety Engineering designs, onsite surveys including feasibility study surveys and dilapidation & snagging assessments, validating project assurance documentation etc)
- Potential Line management responsibility for the development and performance management of team members to support the delivery
- Lead the technical delivery of complex projects ensuring client satisfaction, effective project management and good communication and collaboration between colleagues
- Drives efficiency through standardization and automation of key service offerings
- Manage technical client relationships on projects
- To undertake design checks before issue.
- Planning the delivery and resource requirements for assigned project/s.
- Involvement in bids/tenders etc.
- Promote the level of technical excellence relating to fire engineering within the team.
- Ensure consistent high-quality design delivery.
- Help generate repeat business from both internal and external client.
