Position: Primary-Trained Teacher Location: Between Colchester and Maldon Contract: Part Time - 4 days per week Start Date: Eastr 2026 Salary: MPS (depending on experience)

About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing Primary-trained Teacher to join our supportive team and work with Nurture Group at Secondary School between Colchester and Maldon, a thriving secondary school committed to inclusive education and personalised support. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher with strong primary training to make a significant impact on the lives of pupils in Key Stage 3 who require additional emotional, social, and academic support as they transition into secondary education.

About the Nurture Unit Our Nurture Unit is a carefully designed provision that provides a safe, structured, and supportive environment for students who benefit from a smaller, more personalised setting. Pupils typically join the Nurture Unit to develop confidence, emotional regulation, and core literacy and numeracy skills so they can successfully reintegrate into mainstream lessons.

Key Responsibilities Deliver high-quality, differentiated teaching in English, maths, PSHE, and other foundation subjects in line with primary practice. Provide emotional and pastoral support, helping pupils build confidence, resilience, and positive learning habits. Work closely with the SENCO, pastoral team, and external agencies to support individual learning plans. Use formative assessment to track progress and plan next steps. Create a calm, inclusive, and nurturing environment that supports students with SEMH needs. Communicate regularly with parents and carers to ensure a consistent approach to support.

We Are Looking For Someone Who: Is primary-trained. Has a passion for working with vulnerable pupils or those with SEND/SEMH needs. Is nurturing, patient, and committed to helping students overcome barriers. Can adapt teaching approaches for a small-group, specialist setting. Works well as part of a multidisciplinary team. Brings warmth, creativity, and enthusiasm to the role.
