Charterhouse seeks to appoint an outstanding Teacher of Theology, Philosophy and Ethics (TPE) to join its intellectually ambitious and forward-thinking department from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for a reflective, curious and committed educator to teach across the full age range of the School, including A-Level Philosophy, within a department known for academic rigour, innovation and collaboration.

About the Department

The TPE Department plays a significant role in the academic life of Charterhouse and is one of the School's most popular GCSE option subjects. The department has a strong reputation for innovative curriculum design, including pioneering courses such as Technology Ethics and Space Ethics, alongside excellent outcomes at IGCSE, A-Level and IB.

The department is a friendly, cohesive team of subject specialists who care deeply about the importance of Philosophy, Theology and Ethics in the formation of thoughtful, ethically engaged young people.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Teach a full timetable in Theology, Philosophy and Ethics across a range of year groups
  • Contribute to the continued development of an ambitious and innovative curriculum
  • Play a full role in the academic, pastoral and co-curricular life of a busy boarding school

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an individual who:

  • Has strong subject knowledge and a passion for TPE
  • Is an excellent classroom practitioner, able to engage pupils of all abilities
  • Enjoys working collaboratively and contributing to the wider life of the School
  • Is committed to pupil wellbeing and high academic standards

A recognised teaching qualification is desirable, though applications are welcome from outstanding candidates at an earlier stage in their teaching career.
