Are you passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning?A secondary school in Waltham Forest is looking for a committed Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team and provide essential support to students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with the right experience and mindset to make a real difference in a dynamic, inclusive school environment.

What you'll be doing

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring students with SEMH needs can thrive in school. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support in lessons and during unstructured times
  • Delivering targeted interventions to help students develop emotional regulation, resilience and social skills
  • Supporting teachers in managing behaviour and adapting learning activities where needed
  • Building positive, consistent relationships with students as a trusted adult
  • Working alongside the SENCO, pastoral team and external agencies to ensure joined-up support for every child

What we're looking for

  • Have experience supporting young people with SEMH or behavioural needs (essential)
  • Remain calm and confident when faced with challenging situations
  • Can communicate clearly and build strong relationships with students and staff
  • Are resilient, reflective and committed to professional development
  • Have a solid understanding of safeguarding and the importance of inclusion
