This small and friendly school is a nurturing and inclusive special needs school in Reading, dedicated to supporting children with a range of complex needs, including social, emotional, and mental health challenges. We are looking for a compassionate, resilient, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join oa ur committed team and make a real difference in the lives of their pupils.

  • Primary focus:Pupils with SEMH needs, which may include:

    • Emotional regulation challenges
    • Behavioural difficulties
    • Social interaction issues
  • Additional needs often supported:

    • Autism Spectrum Conditions
    • Learning difficulties
    • Pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Specialist support includes:

    • Tailored interventions based on the Nurture Group Model
    • A short-term intervention programme called The Lakes Centre for pupils struggling to engage in mainstream settings due to behavioural and emotional challenges.
  • Environment:

    • Small school setting with a capacity of around 32 pupils
    • Highly supportive and structured learning environment
    • Emphasis on emotional and social development

What You'll Do:

  • Support pupils in their learning, both in and out of the classroom
  • Work closely with teachers and other professionals to deliver tailored educational and emotional support
  • Help create a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and personal development in every child

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people, especially those with special educational needs (SEN), is desirable but not essential
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for helping children thrive
