About the Role:
Aatom Recruitment is currently working with a local authority to recruit a Senior Welfare Rights Advisor. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dedicated team focused on income maximisation and tenancy support.
As a key member of the team, you will work proactively with tenants who are in or at risk of falling into rent arrears. Your role will involve delivering person-centred advice and interventions to help residents maximise their income and maintain their tenancies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality welfare rights advice to residents across Camden.
- Manage a caseload of complex and sensitive cases, including appeals and tribunal representation.
- Support vulnerable adults to live independently and sustain their tenancies.
- Offer second-tier support to council colleagues and contribute to policy and service development.
- Deliver training and guidance to staff on welfare benefits, financial inclusion, and money management.
- Make informed decisions on benefit entitlements and crisis grants.
- Build strong relationships across council services and external partners.
- Challenge existing systems and contribute to service improvement through evidence-based insights.
What We're Looking For:
- Extensive experience in welfare rights advice and casework.
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills, especially in tribunal settings.
- Ability to work flexibly and make robust decisions in challenging situations.
