Targeted Housing Adviser
Homelessness Prevention
We are seeking an experienced Targeted Housing Adviser to provide personalised, proactive, and holistic housing advice and support to prevent and relieve homelessness and promote independent living.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored housing advice covering security of tenure, possession proceedings, housing rights, welfare benefits, tax credits, debt advice, and housing options.
- Provide casework-based support to help service users access appropriate services and achieve sustainable housing solutions.
- Develop, review, and manage solution-focused, person-centred action plans.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to support vulnerable adults and young people.
- Conduct eligibility assessments and make complex decisions in line with current housing legislation and guidance.
- Issue clear and legally compliant decision letters.
- Identify and manage risks effectively, escalating issues where necessary.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of policies and procedures to improve service quality.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed case records on relevant systems.
- Deliver services within agreed standards and meet performance targets.
Key Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of housing options, homelessness legislation, and the Housing Act 1996 (Parts VI and VII).
- Experience providing housing advice and support in a complex environment.
- Ability to interpret and communicate complex legislation to a wide range of audiences.
- Skilled in negotiating and influencing to achieve positive outcomes for service users.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with service users and partner organisations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Proficient in maintaining accurate case records using IT systems.
