PSR are working with a leading Civil Engineering main contractor, who specialise in clean and waste water infrastructure and non infrastructure. Who are seeking a Senior QS / Commercial Manager to provide commercial support on a number of Thames Water projects.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor Role
The Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager will oversee the financial and commercial management of multiple projects or a section of a larger project.
Your role will be key in mitigating financial risk, ensuring cost control, and maximising project profitability, while adhering to the company's commercial procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Regional Director and Commercial Manager in financial and commercial matters.
- Ensure timely submission and analysis of contract performance data.
- Work closely with Contracts Managers to oversee project finances and report key developments.
- Prepare and approve sub-contracts and manage sub-contractor performance.
- Supervise and mentor junior commercial staff.
- Ensure compliance with contract notices, claims, and payment applications.
- Lead dispute resolution and contract negotiations with clients and suppliers.
- Manage project meetings and provide regular financial reports.
Skills as a Senior Quantity Surveyor
Essential:
- Strong commercial management experience in the Civil Engineering industry.
- Proficient in contract management, valuation, and cost forecasting.
- Excellent negotiation skills and ability to draft sub-contracts.
- Strong knowledge of CIS, dispute resolution, and risk assessment.
- Experience in final accounts, value engineering, and procurement.
- Proven track record of mentoring and developing commercial teams.
Desirable:
- Membership of RICS or a recognised professional body.
- Experience in health, education, mixed-use, or commercial projects.
