EAL Learning Support Assistant

Location: Wandsworth, London

Contract: Monday to Friday, Term Time Only

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Nurture Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic EAL Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL) in a primary school in Wandsworth.

The successful candidate will work closely with pupils to develop their English language skills and help them access the curriculum with confidence. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of young learners by supporting both their academic progress and emotional wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting pupils who are developing English as an additional language, both in class and in small groups.
• Helping pupils to understand and engage with lessons and learning materials.
• Encouraging communication, participation, and confidence in spoken and written English.
• Working collaboratively with teachers and other staff to adapt learning resources.
• Promoting inclusion and celebrating cultural diversity within the school community.

• Passionate about helping children succeed and develop confidence in learning.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to model clear spoken and written English.
• Experience working with EAL pupils or in an educational support role (desirable).
• Patient, flexible, and able to adapt strategies to meet individual learning needs.
• Reliable, professional, and a strong team player.

Desirable:

• Qualification or training in supporting EAL learners.
• Knowledge of additional languages would be an advantage.
