About the Role
Are you a nurturing and patient Early Years Practitioner with experience supporting children with additional needs?
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in North London is seeking a dedicated SEN Early Years Practitioner to join their Early Years team as soon as possible.
This role is perfect for someone passionate about helping children with autism and developmental delays to communicate, explore, and thrive through play-based learning and sensory experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support to children with additional needs, including autism and speech, language, and communication difficulties.
- Plan and deliver sensory and play-based learning activities aligned with the EYFS framework.
- Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet individual learning profiles and EHCP targets.
- Encourage independence, curiosity, and confidence in every child.
- Collaborate with SENCOs, class teachers, and external professionals such as speech and language therapists.
- Maintain accurate progress records and communicate regularly with parents and carers.
- Promote an inclusive, nurturing environment where every child feels valued and supported.
The Ideal Candidate
- Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education (or equivalent).
- Experience working with children with SEND, particularly autism or communication needs.
- Understanding of sensory play, emotional regulation, and early communication strategies (e.g. PECS, Makaton).
- Compassionate, adaptable, and enthusiastic about supporting children's holistic development.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with a proactive, child-centred approach.
