Electrical Technician

Our client, a leading UK oil storage and chemical terminal, is seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to join their maintenance team in Grays, Essex. This is a full-time, permanent position, offering the opportunity to work in a highly regulated industrial environment, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of critical electrical systems.

Electrical Technician role:

• Performing planned and reactive electrical maintenance on site equipment, including MCCs, motors, generators, and access control systems
• Conducting hazardous area inspections, earthing and lightning protection testing, and low-voltage (LV) fixed wiring inspections
• Providing electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting support to ensure plant reliability and operational efficiency
• Supervising contractor inspections and ensure all electrical work is completed in compliance with industry regulations and site safety standards
• Carrying out electrical isolations and complete isolation certificates in line with lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures

Requirements for Electrical Technician:

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a time-served apprenticeship
• COMPEX 01-04 certification (for hazardous areas)
• Experience as an Electrical Technician in the petrochemical, chemical, or heavy industrial sector
• Knowledge of safety instrumented systems and high-voltage awareness
• IPAF 3A & 3B, PASMA mobile tower erection, and Working at Heights certification (preferred)
