- Working Pattern: Full Time, 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday

- Location: Essex

- Hourly Rate: 18.12 p/h PAYE - 22.88 p/h umbrella

Responsibilities:

As a Homeless Triage Officer, you will:

• Conduct homelessness assessments to provide advice and assistance to individuals in housing need or at risk of homelessness
• Assess homeless individuals in person, ensuring necessary documentation is provided
• Provide comprehensive advice on various housing options and tenancy rights
• Conduct initial assessments to determine eligibility and identify homelessness
• Offer advice and assistance to prevent homelessness, including online housing options and referrals
• Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions and advice given
• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to deliver effective solutions
• Stay up to date with relevant legislation and policies pertaining to homelessness and housing

Essential Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

• Working knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and Part VII of the Housing Act 1996
• Detailed knowledge of housing benefit, council tax benefit, security tenure, homelessness advice, and case management
• Writing detailed s184 decisions
• Experience in dealing with customers both in person and through various communication channels
• Previous experience in housing advice or homelessness services
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in using IT applications for data processing and management

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

• Familiarity with welfare benefits and domestic abuse services
• Checking Section 21 validity
• Additional training or certifications in housing-related fields
