Job Requirements/Description

Required immediately or from April 2026

This is an opportunity for an experienced teacher of Sport / PE to play a pivotal role in the leadership and management of a thriving and ambitious sports department and continue developing the excellent reputation and provision of sport across Sydenham High School.

It is an exciting time to join Sydenham High School. There has been considerable investment in sports facilities, including resurfaced all-weather courts and floodlit pitches at our 8-acre sportsground. A new gym and fitness suite will also be opening in September 2026.

As Director of Sport, you will oversee the delivery of outstanding sports and co-curricular opportunities, and ensure pupils develop positive and healthy relationships with physical activity. Alongside teaching engaged and highly motivated pupils in the prep school, and at GCSE and A Level, you will develop and challenge our most able and talented athletes through our progressive high-performance programme and scholarships.

This role would be ideal for an experienced colleague and an excellent teacher, with some management experience, who is seeking to progress into a key middle leadership position.
