Aatom Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Housing Benefit Assessment Officer to work on behalf of a local authority. This is a hybrid role with just one day per week required in the office, offering flexibility and a chance to make a meaningful impact in financial inclusion services.
Location: Hybrid - 1 day per week in office
Contract Length: 5 months
Rate: £27.46 per hour (Umbrella) - Inside IR35
Start Date: ASAP
Key Responsibilities:- Assess and calculate Housing Benefit claims including new applications, changes in circumstances, reviews, and reconsiderations - primarily for Temporary Accommodation.
- Work with systems such as Atlas, VEP, HBAA, iWorld, , and Northgate NPS.
- Support new sign-ups for both Temporary Accommodation and General Needs housing (with a focus on TA).
- Apply up-to-date knowledge of Housing Benefit and Universal Credit legislation and guidance.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of claims.
About You:- Minimum 2 years' experience in Housing Benefit assessment and calculations.
- Strong working knowledge of Universal Credit and its interaction with Housing Benefit.
- Familiarity with relevant systems and platforms used in local authority benefit processing.
- Detail-oriented, organised, and committed to delivering high-quality service to residents.
