The Opportunity
A well-established, dual-authorised wealth management practice based in Westminster is seeking a Senior Paraplanner to support the firm's continued growth. The company manages approximately£150 million in assets under management (AUM) across two partners and is in the process of acquiring new books of business, which will increase this to circa £200 million.
This is a technically involved, client-centric role ideal for a paraplanner with experience in estate planning, pensions, and complex investment structures. The firm is known for its strong focus on family wealth and intergenerational planning, providing tailored advice to high-net-worth individuals and business owners.
The successful candidate will work closely with two Partner Advisers, supporting the onboarding of new clients, producing high-quality financial planning reports, and taking part in client meetings where appropriate. This is a hands-on role with real impact and the opportunity to grow into an adviser position in the longer term.
Key Responsibilities
Produce detailed, compliant, and tailored financial planning reports across pensions, estate planning, ISAs, insurance, and business structures
Support the onboarding of high-value client books recently acquired by the firm
Liaise closely with Advisers and clients; optional involvement in client meetings
Oversee administrative support from junior staff and contribute to operational processes where necessary (approx. 25% of the role includes administration oversight)
Ensure accuracy, suitability, and compliance in all technical outputs
Contribute to case discussions, research, and technical planning across complex family and estate-based planning
Candidate Profile
Essential:
Minimum 3 years' experience in a paraplanning role within an independent, regulated financial planning firm
Experience working with HNW clients, ideally in areas such as estate planning, pensions, family investment strategies, or legacy wealth
Advanced diploma (Level 4 minimum required; Chartered or working toward is highly desirable)
Strong report writing, attention to detail, and technical knowledge across pensions and investment products
Confident communicator able to liaise with advisers, clients, and support staff
Desirable:
Familiarity with Standard Life or similar product providers
Background in boutique IFA firms with a broad exposure to bespoke financial advice
Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced, high-trust environment
Working Environment & Progression
This is a close-knit team of five, including two Partner Advisers, one Administrator, and one existing Paraplanner. The firm operates a collaborative, high-standards environment where everyone contributes to the overall success of the practice.
While the role is onsite for the first six months, there is flexibility for a hybrid arrangement following this period, based on performance and integration.
There is also a long-term opportunity for the right candidate to transition into an adviser role, though this is not an immediate expectation. The firm is growing steadily and is committed to developing internal talent over the long term.
Interview Process
Stage 1: Introductory video call
Stage 2: Remote case study - 2-hour financial planning report (Standard Life-based scenario)
Stage 3: In-office competency and technical test (grammar, numerical, and written assessment)
Stage 4: Final face-to-face interview with both Partners
