About the Team:

The Waste and Cleansing Contract Team is responsible for the day-to-day client management of the Council's Recycling, Waste Collection and Street Cleaning contract. Ensuring our waste contractor maintains high levels of performance excellence and continuous improvement.

This is a complex and high value contract providing universal services, affecting all who live, work and visit the borough.

Lambeth Council has declared a climate emergency and is committed to be net carbon neutral by 2030. Reducing the environmental impact of waste management plays a significant part in achieving our ambition.

About the Role:

This role plays a key part in ensuring recycling, waste collections and street cleaning services are delivered in an efficient and effective manner. These are high profile universal services affecting all who live, work and visit the borough. This is an opportunity to develop your contract management skills in a challenging and rewarding environment, leading an excellent team and contributing to the development and improvement in our approach to managing waste in a sustainable way.

The post holder will be responsible for the effective operational management of the newly established Waste and Cleansing Contract Management Team and will manage the contractual relationship between Resident Services and contractors both internal and external relating to waste management, cleansing and associated services.
Lead and manage the workforce of the contracts team, contractors, subcontractors, and other resources required to deliver the service.

To be considered for interview, your CV and supporting statement will clearly evidence:

• A strong understanding of the key national issues facing municipal waste management services
• Experience of managing high performing waste and cleansing contracts with sound knowledge of good contract management principles
• Be educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience with evidence of continuing professional development
• Demonstrate a high level of accountability for individual and team performance and delivery
• Show ambition for continuous improvement through innovation and challenging the status quo
