Job Opportunity: List Caller/ Court Usher - Highbury Magistrates' Court (HMCTS)

We are excited to be recruiting for a Court Usher to join our client, HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) - an agency of the Ministry of Justice. This is a full-time, temporary role based primarily at Highbury Magistrates' Court, with occasional duties at other nearby courts as required.

Contract: till March 31 March 2026 (with potential extension)Salary: £15.59 per hour (plus holiday entitlement and pension scheme)Hours: 37 per week, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm

About the Role

As a Court Usher (List Caller), you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of daily court proceedings. You will manage court lists, assist court users, and support the judiciary and legal professionals throughout hearings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and manage daily court lists, ensuring accuracy.
• Call parties into the courtroom and maintain smooth case flow.
• Keep court users informed of estimated timings and case progress.
• Liaise with legal representatives, interpreters, and support services.
• Assist with courtroom setup and ensure all documents are in place.
• Support administrative tasks such as post opening, case entry, and handling telephone/counter queries.
• Provide excellent customer service to all court users.

Skills & Experience Required

• Professionalism: Ability to stay calm and proactive in a busy environment.
• Organisation: Strong time management and prioritisation skills.
• Communication: Clear, confident, and professional both in writing and face-to-face. Public speaking required.
• Self-Motivation: Able to work independently with initiative.
• Administration: Previous experience in admin or data entry is desirable.
• Reliable and punctual with good attendance

• A DBS check is required (processed by us).
• Successful applicants must pass security clearance (approx. 2-3 weeks).
