Job Title: Youth Justice Practitioner

Location: Station Road, Ilford, Greater London, IG6 1NB

Contract Type: Temporary / Fixed Term (as applicable)

Hours: Full-time (as per role requirements)

Rate: PAYE £26.50 per hour Limited/Umbrella £34.22 per hour

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated Youth Justice Practitioner to manage a caseload of youth justice cases, including both out-of-court disposals and statutory court orders. Working within the Child First, Offender Second framework, you will provide effective support and interventions to help children and young people complete their disposals/orders and live crime-free lives.

This role requires collaboration with families, internal teams, and external partners to secure the best outcomes, with equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice central to all work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage youth justice cases using AssetPlus as an assessment and planning tool.
  • Deliver trauma-informed case management focusing on desistance factors and behavior change.
  • Work collaboratively with children, young people, families, and partner agencies to deliver evidence-based interventions (group or individual) to reduce offending, re-offending, and disengagement from education, employment, or training.
  • Prepare Pre-Sentence Reports, Stand-Down Reports, and Referral Order Panel Reports as required.
  • Represent YJTPS and present information to courts and panels.
  • Ensure interventions are effective in keeping children, young people, and the public safe.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with National Standards and the HMIP Inspection Framework.
Skills & Experience:
  • Experience in youth justice case management and statutory processes.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and desistance-focused interventions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, young people, families, and professionals.
  • Knowledge of assessment tools such as AssetPlus.
  • Excellent organisational and report-writing skills.
