Long-Term Teaching Opportunity - Reading Area
A well-regarded secondary school in Reading is seeking a dedicated and qualified teacher to join their team on a long-term basis. This is a full-time role with planning responsibilities, offering pay to scale (MPS/UPS), and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' academic progress.
Subjects to Teach
- A Level Biology - Deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned lessons to sixth form students, preparing them for exams and further study.
- Health & Social Care (KS4/KS5) - Support students in vocational pathways with relevant, real-world content and assessment preparation.
Start Date
- Immediate start available, or after October half term depending on candidate availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in line with national curriculum standards.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a diverse student cohort.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.
- Contribute to departmental planning, resource development, and curriculum enrichment.
- Support students with UCAS applications and career guidance where appropriate.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience teaching Biology at A Level.
- Experience or strong understanding of Health & Social Care curriculum.
- Proven ability to plan and deliver engaging, effective lessons.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with BTEC or OCR Health & Social Care specifications.
- Understanding of exam board requirements and assessment criteria.
- Ability to integrate practical activities and digital tools into teaching.
- A collaborative and proactive approach to working within a department.
