Time Commitment: Average of 2 days per month
Changing Faces is the UK's leading charity for people with a mark, scar or condition that makes them look different. Our vision is a future where everyone with a visible difference or disfigurement has the confidence, support and opportunity to lead the lives they want.
People with visible differences often face challenges being accepted in different areas of their lives - from school through to relationships and the workplace. 49% of adults with visible differences have experienced hostile behaviour and almost half of young people who have a visible difference have been bullied at school.
We know that people with visible differences can be vulnerable to isolation, loneliness, social anxiety and low self-esteem.
Changing Faces is here for everyone with a scar, mark or condition on their face or body. We provide life-changing mental health, wellbeing and skin camouflage services. We work to transform understanding and acceptance of visible difference, and campaign to reduce prejudice and discrimination.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Board of an ambitious organisation with an enviable impact that makes a real difference to those with visible differences.
We are very fortunate to have a highly skilled Board, a passionate team, stable finances and a great reputation, giving us a strong platform from which to achieve our goals. We are currently in the final year of our strategy (ending 2027) and will be looking to review opportunities for our next strategic period. We are committed to ensuring high-quality and relevant services and campaigns to best serve our beneficiaries and to change public perceptions about visible difference.
We are looking for a Chair to lead and inspire who brings:
We are seeking a Chair who shares our values as well as our passion and commitment to the those we support.
Changing Faces is committed to achieving greater diversity across the team, and welcome applications regardless of sex, gender, race, age, sexuality, belief or disability. We particularly welcome applications from those with visible differences.
