THE ROLE

As a Lifting Operations Supervisor, you will operate across several performance venues, supporting the development and implementation of best practices for working safely at height.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of safe working practices ensuring compliance with current legislation and industry standards.
  • Provide expert guidance and oversight on all production lifting requirements from the feasibility stage.
  • Coordinate the temporary installation and commissioning of additional lifting equipment as required for productions or special projects.
  • Work collaboratively with technical teams and external contractors to facilitate the safe and effective delivery of performer flying effects.
  • Support the recruitment, training and professional development of staff.
  • Champion a strong safety culture by developing risk assessments ensure all staff involved in lifting operations understand and adhere to safety controls.
  • Work closely with other technical supervisors to plan and allocate staffing in line with production schedules and technical demands.
  • Contribute to the development and sourcing of lifting solutions for commercial transfers.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of lifting technologies and implement improvements to ensure safe, efficient and sustainable operations.

THE PERSON

You should have technical operational experience in entertainment or theatre rigging, or alternatively from the wider rigging or lifting equipment industry. A solid understanding of health and safety legislation, particularly HSWA and LOLER is essential.

Strong communication, project management and IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, are important for success in this role.

Having a proactive and flexible approach is key. You should be committed to maintaining high professional and safety standards, with a willingness to stay up to date with industry developments and best practices.
