We are currently recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a successful Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Morden for a September 2026 start.

About the Role

As a Science LSA, you will support students within Science lessons, helping them engage with learning and develop both academically and personally. The school supports students who may have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, behavioural challenges, or additional learning needs.

The successful candidate will be confident, patient, and able to build positive relationships with students while supporting them to achieve success in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 and small-group basis within Science lessons.
  • Assisting teachers with the delivery of engaging and practical Science activities.
  • Encouraging student participation, confidence, and academic progress.
  • Building positive relationships and strong rapport with students.
  • Supporting students with SEMH, SEND, and behavioural needs.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and maintaining a safe learning environment.
  • Assisting with classroom management and behaviour management strategies.
  • Supporting practical Science lessons while adhering to health and safety guidelines.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A Science qualification, degree, or relevant Science experience.
  • The ability to build strong rapport and positive relationships with students.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and confidence working with young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach.
  • A genuine passion for education and supporting students to overcome barriers to learning.
  • Previous experience working with young people in education, youth work, mentoring, coaching, or support settings is desirable.
