Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial assessments and risk assessments to identify the needs and risks for children, families, and vulnerable individuals.
- Work closely with multi-agency teams, including health professionals, law enforcement, and education providers, to deliver coordinated interventions.
- Develop and implement care plans to safeguard and support service users effectively.
- Undertake Section 47 investigations where necessary, ensuring compliance with statutory guidelines and policies.
- Make informed decisions regarding child protection, safeguarding, and welfare in line with UK legislation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records using electronic case management systems.
- Attend court proceedings and provide expert witness statements when required.
- Engage in supervision, training, and professional development to stay updated with best practices in risk and assessment social work.
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker (Degree or equivalent in Social Work).
- Registration with Social Work England (or equivalent governing body).
- Proven experience in risk assessment, safeguarding, and child protection.
- Strong knowledge of legislation, policies, and procedures related to social work in the UK.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage complex caseloads, and make sound decisions in crisis situations.
- Excellent communication, report writing, and analytical skills.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
- A valid UK driving licence is often preferred (depending on the role).
