We are seeking an Operations Manager to oversee the transport and logistics functions of a busy removals business. This role is focused on ensuring that jobs are scheduled effectively, vehicles and crews are managed efficiently, and operational standards are upheld.
You will be the key link between customers, crews, and management - ensuring smooth delivery of services and driving improvements across transport and operational processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Job Scheduling & Coordination
- Plan and assign daily and weekly removals and logistics jobs
- Optimise routing and crew allocation for efficiency and service quality
- Fleet & Vehicle Management
- Oversee servicing, compliance, and upkeep of vehicles
- Monitor vehicle usage and address any operational issues promptly
- Crew Management & Support
- Brief and debrief crews before and after jobs
- Ensure health & safety standards are followed
- Motivate, support, and develop team members
- Equipment & Inventory Control
- Manage operational tools, equipment, and packing materials
- Ensure warehouse stock levels are maintained and replenished when needed
- Performance & Process Improvement
- Track operational KPIs such as job efficiency, punctuality, and service quality and Identify opportunities to streamline operations and implement improvements
About You
- Strong background in operations, transport, or logistics (removals/related industry experience preferred)
- Excellent organisational and planning skills
- Confident leader with strong communication skills
- Practical problem-solver, able to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable using scheduling and fleet management systems
