The Role - Primary Learning Support Assistant

As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll work collaboratively with teaching staff to enhance the classroom experience for all pupils, with a particular focus on emotional and physical wellbeing. Your clinical or care experience will be invaluable in providing support tailored to individual needs, both educational and pastoral.

Key duties include:

  • Supporting children across KS1 and KS2, in both classroom and small group settings
  • Offering personalised care and encouragement to pupils with specific needs
  • Promoting pupil wellbeing and identifying any emerging health concerns
  • Assisting with basic medical needs and adhering to first aid protocols
  • Creating a calm, positive and engaging learning environment
  • Supporting transitions and developing children's social and life skills
  • Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and families to ensure joined-up support

Person Specification

We welcome applicants from a wide range of medical and care backgrounds, such as:

  • Nursing, therapy, support work, clinical healthcare, or first aid roles
  • Experience supporting children or vulnerable individuals in any setting
  • A calm, caring and nurturing presence with high levels of empathy
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A team player who can adapt quickly to meet pupil needs
  • A genuine interest in contributing to children's learning and emotional development
