We are currently working with a Local Authority in the East of England who are seeking five experienced Building Control professionals to support their statutory Building Control service. These roles are on a permanent basis and will focus on domestic and specialist inspections, enforcement, and strategic delivery aligned with the Building Safety Regulator's requirements.

Salary Package (Domestic), Class 2F/Class 2D: £47,881-£50,269 annually, £3205 Car Allowance, £5000 yearly market supplement and dangerous callout payments (hourly)
Salary Package (Specialist), Class 3G/Class 3H:£53,560- £56,681 annually, £3205 Car Allowance, £10000 yearly market supplement and dangerous callout payments (hourly)
Working Arrangement: Hybrid
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of domestic and high-risk building projects, including plan appraisals, site inspections, and enforcement actions.
- Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, Building Act 1984, and associated legislation across Class 2 and Class 3 building types.
- Undertake specialist assessments and inspections, including dangerous structures and demolition control.
- Lead on technical advice and decision-making for complex schemes, including those under the Building Safety Regulator (BSR).
- Chair moderation panels, prepare contract documentation, and support governance processes.
- Represent the council in enforcement cases, including court appearances as an expert witness.
- Contribute to strategic planning and service development aligned with the council's sustainability and safety goals.
- Supervise and support junior inspectors within validated competence levels.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Registered with the Building Safety Regulator as a Building Inspector.
- Proven experience managing domestic and high-risk building inspections (Class 2 & 3).
- Strong understanding of building control legislation, construction methods, and health & safety regulations.
- Excellent communication, report writing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage complex caseloads.
- Degree in Building Control, Surveying, Construction, or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
- Membership of RICS, CABE, CIOB or similar professional body (desirable).
- Full driving license and access to a suitable vehicle for site visits.
