Director-Level Fire Engineer Opportunity

Location: London or Manchester (with national project coverage)

We're working with a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy known for delivering high-quality services across surveying, engineering, project management, and fire safety. Due to strategic growth and increased client demand, they're seeking a senior Fire Engineer to lead and expand their fire engineering services.

This is a director-level opportunity offering the chance to shape the fire engineering function from the ground up - with immediate access to high-risk, high-profile projects in residential, student accommodation, and mixed-use developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of and expand the existing fire engineering service offering
  • Build and lead a dedicated fire engineering team
  • Deliver services across: Fire risk assessments (including FRAEWs) Fire strategies and holistic fire safety reviews
  • Design reviews and compliance assessments
  • Compartmentation design and advice
  • Façade remediation strategy and interim measures
  • Fire modelling and scenario analysis using industry-leading software
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams in project management, cost consultancy, and façade engineering
  • Lead input on complex remediation schemes including cladding replacement and fire alarm system upgrades

Ideal Candidate Profile

This role is ideal for a driven fire engineering professional ready to step into a senior leadership role - especially someone looking for greater scope, autonomy, and a path to build their own team.

Required skills and experience:

  • Strong knowledge of UK fire safety legislation, including: Building Safety Act 2022 Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 Regulatory Reform Order (2005) PAS 9980 Approved Documents and relevant guidance
  • Understanding of fire safety in high-risk residential and multi-use buildings
  • Expertise in internal compartmentation, façade systems, and cladding-related fire risk
  • Proficiency in fire modelling tools is advantageous
  • Chartership (CEng or IEng) via IFE or equivalent professional body preferred

Qualifications:

Degree in Fire Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field Chartered or Incorporated Fire Engineer (or equivalent demonstrable experience)
