About the Role

Reed Education is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and successful primary school for an experienced Key Stage 1 Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team from September.

This is an exciting opportunity for a confident and proactive HLTA who can hit the ground running, lead whole-class learning when required, and make an immediate impact on pupil progress.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across Key Stage 1, delivering targeted interventions, leading phonics sessions, and providing class cover when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver planned lessons and provide whole-class cover across KS1
  • Lead daily phonics sessions and support early reading development
  • Plan and deliver targeted interventions in literacy and numeracy
  • Support pupils of varying abilities, including SEND and EAL learners
  • Work closely with class teachers to raise attainment and accelerate progress
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress within intervention groups
  • Promote positive behaviour and create an engaging learning environment
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school and support school initiatives

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

HLTA status or significant experience in a similar role

Strong experience working within Key Stage 1

A secure understanding of phonics programmes and early reading

Experience leading interventions that demonstrate impact on pupil progress

Confidence delivering lessons and managing whole classes independently

Excellent behaviour management skills

A positive, flexible and team-oriented approach

A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
