About Kelwel Care

At Kelwel Care, we believe that every child deserves to feel safe, seen, and supported.

Our homes are built around therapeutic principles that prioritise emotional wellbeing, trust, and belonging.

We provide trauma-informed, relationship-based care that empowers children and young people to heal, grow, and thrive.

We're delighted to be opening a brand-new solo placement therapeutic children's home in Letchworth Garden City. Our new home will be a nurturing environment designed to meet the individual needs of one young person at a time.

Following the success of our "Outstanding"-rated sister home, we are now building a compassionate new team to continue this meaningful work.

The Role

As a Residential Support Worker, you'll play a vital part in the therapeutic journey of the young person in our care.

You'll bring warmth, consistency, and empathy, helping them develop confidence, independence, and resilience through genuine relationships and everyday experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build trusting, therapeutic relationships that support healing and emotional growth.
  • Promote a sense of safety, stability, and belonging within the home.
  • Support daily routines such as meals, education, and activities with patience and care.
  • Respond to emotional or behavioural distress using trauma-informed and reflective approaches.
  • Encourage life skills, creativity, and personal development.
  • Maintain accurate and sensitive records, including daily logs and reports.
  • Contribute to household routines and teamwork, including reflective practice sessions.
  • Work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.

About You

We're looking for someone who brings compassion, curiosity, and commitment - someone who can see beyond behaviour and connect with the child underneath.

Essential:

  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Business car insurance (for work-related travel)
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to complete one)

Preferred:

  • Qualifications in youth work, social care, psychology, or a related field
  • Experience supporting children or young people in a therapeutic or residential setting

You'll also bring:

  • Strong communication and emotional awareness
  • A calm, reflective approach to challenges
  • A belief in the power of relationships to create change

What We Offer

  • A supportive, reflective working culture grounded in therapeutic care
  • Funded QCF Level 3/4/5 qualifications in Residential Childcare
  • Comprehensive training in therapeutic and trauma-informed practice
  • A chance to make a genuine difference in a young person's life
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Company pension, free parking, staff discounts, and referral programme
  • DBS paid for by Kelwel Care
