We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Architect to support our growing portfolio of property and HMO projects. You will be working across a variety of schemes, from communal accommodation and HMOs to private investors. This is a hands-on role requiring a strong understanding of property compliance, coordination of surveys and drawings, and regular liaison with stakeholders and consultants.
Duties and responsibilitiesMain Duties & Responsibilities
Property & Project Management:
- Review licences, email trails, and documentation to understand current issues and ensure compliance.
- Liaise with investors
- Liaise with the construction department.
- Manage project progress for multiple schemes
Drawings & Floor Plans:
- Update inaccurate or missing floor plans,
- Coordinate outsourced full-measure surveys and produce or review "existing" drawings in preparation for construction packs.
Compliance & Coordination:
- Ensure all documentation and plans reflect current layouts and uses.
- Arrange and track key surveys: asbestos, drainage, building control, build-over agreements.
- Update and monitor boards to reflect current project statuses.
Stakeholder Updates:
- Keep internal folders and spreadsheets updated with latest data.
- Support ongoing feasibility studies and issue resolution for private clients and investor-led projects.
Industry Standards & CPD:
- Stay up to date with HMO standards, housing regulations, and local authority requirements.
- Proactively seek continuous improvement in systems, knowledge, and documentation.
Experience and qualificationsSkills & Knowledge
- Proven experience in property coordination, architecture, housing compliance, or construction admin.
- Ability to read and update architectural drawings
- Strong organisational skills with experience managing multiple projects at once.
- Experience arranging technical surveys and managing external consultants.
- Knowledge of HMO licensing and local authority compliance.
- Familiarity with UK building control processes and feasibility assessments.
- Experience with London LAs in relation to HMOs, temporary accommodation and rental properties
- Professional architectural license.
- Experience with residential properties, loft extensions and kitchen extensions, especially with permitted development
- In-depth knowledge of HMO regulations, building codes, and standards.
- Proficiency in architectural design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or SketchUp.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when necessary.
- Experience in sustainable design practices (preferred).
- Certification in HMO compliance or related field (preferred).
- Working on own initiative without close supervision and as part of a team
- Work flexibly to meet the varying demands of the role in order to achieve agreed outcomes.
